In the faster rhythms in the General Workshop Sight-Singing, the consonants (especially the “unvoiced” F, S, T) register as low notes and “steal” pitch information away from the vowel note so I’m finding it impossible to get correct notes. I’m having a hard time making it through the 4 measure sight-singing exercises because there’s no moment to take a breath so at some point you have to shorten a duration and incur an error. Please advise on how this is supposed to work?

After playing with it for a bit it seems like it’s the tie tool specifically that’s making everything else gray out. So after tieing two notes together, say in measure one of a two-bar phrase, you can’t do anything more.

I will be doing a transcription then at some point in going back and forth between notes/rests/ties I can’t select any of the tools anymore.
