I used EarMaster 4.0 a few years ago and really liked it, but when I moved up to Boston to attend Berklee, I left my PC at home, as Berklee requires all their students to own PowerBooks (Macs). The entire campus (3,900 music students) is Mac based. All of the computer labs use PowerMac G5's, and the sequencing programs they use (Logic and Digital Performer) only run on Macs. As I'm studying more about the music industry, I'm finding that most music professionals use Macs (every major film composer uses a Mac for sequencing - Zimmer, Elfman, Howard Shore, whoever). Berklee has both Auralia and Practica Musica in their labs, but not EarMaster, because EarMaster doesn't have a Mac version.

I know that Macs are only something like 3.5% of the entire computer market, but I believe that percentage rises when you look only at the "music computer market".

Anyways, there's at least one person who would buy a Mac version of EarMaster. Auralia's melodic dictation is just awful. And, really, how hard would it be to make a Mac version? If Auralia can do both PC and Mac why can't EarMaster?

And please - don't say "you can buy a PC emulator to use", because I'm no one is going to spend $250 on Virtual PC and then an additional $60+ for the program itself just to use an ear training program.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I agree with you that a Mac version of EarMaster is something we should consider - and we do, but there is a lot of work involved. We like to do our best, and our highest priority has been to make a great new windows release.

It may be possible to use EarMaster with a PC emulator, but it is not something we have tested: http://www.earmaster.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=22

Have just downloaded a demo version of Earmaster 5.0 onto my Mac Powerbook (G4 800Mhz 1GB Ram) running virtual PC 6.1 running windows XP pro. It works, but not very well. Its like listening to a badly scratched CD. Earmaster seems to be just what I have been looking for but not sure if I can live with it through the virtual PC. Does anyone have any ideas how to make it work any better? (without buying a PC)

Hi, I just wanted to say that I'd be another happy EarMaster user, should you develop an OSX version. Here, in Switzerland, the music schools I know only use macs.

Yes, my jaw dropped when I realized moments ago that EarMaster is not available for Mac OS X. I was ready to buy the full teaching edition to use with my students. Music and art are what Mac is all about. I'm sure it is a lot of work to put together the Mac version, but there are tons of customers out there who, like me, are about to purchase lesser ear training products for their wonderful Mac's because EarMaster is not available for us.

Couldn't agree more... I used Earmaster on a PC years ago and was very satisfied with it. I'm now a (happy) Mac user but was surprised not to find a specific version for OS X. I'm sure there are many potential customers out there !!

Just wanted to buy EarMaster, but... no Mac OS X version available!!! What software is this 99% of all people involved with music (musicians, teachers, producers etc.) use Apple's Operating System Mac OS X and EarMaster doesn't exist...

I am very suprised and it makes the company and the software very suspiciuos to me...
