Hi Quentin,
Today I tried to make some much needed modifications to exercises that I have assigned my students. I was able to make the edits in the workbook file that I changed, but I cannot seem to get those changes to sync with the cloud - students still see the unedited exercises. Here are the things I tried:
1. Saving the workbook. The save feature doesn't seem to actually do anything, although every time I open this workbook, it does have the changes that I made. Students don't see the changes however.
2. "Saving as" - didn't help either.
3. Unassigning the workbook and reassigning. When I did this I re-uploaded the workbook to the cloud. While it appeared that the workbook uploaded to the cloud (I got a message asking if I wanted to replace the file with the same name and I clicked yes or whatever), the changes are still not showing up to the students.
I think I'm skipping some obvious step. Would love help.
Thanks,
Liz

Quentin - now things seem to be working. I have no idea what happened. I will keep you posted if I run into trouble again.

Re: Assignment Editor - Can't save/edit workbooks
Hi Liz,
The system does not allow to edit a workbook that has already been assigned. Allowing this would have unfortunate consequences on student results, as some of them might have results obtained in one version of your workbook while other might have results from another version. Therefore, as long as your workbook is still a "work in progress", it is recommended to keep it as a local file.
As you have seen, it is possible to overwrite a file in the cloud with the same name, but internally it is a different file, so it will appear in student results as two different assignments: the old version (listed in "past workbooks") and the new one with the updated structure and lessons listed in "Current workbooks".
All changes appear in the student versions when they launch the software, or when they refresh the home screen (click on cloud icon and then click on refresh to fetch all changes form the cloud).

Thanks Quentin - this makes perfect sense. Normally, I would have had things corrected before I assigned them, but didn't notice that there were errors until after they were assigned. Thank you for the information!
