Hi Quentin,
At least one of my students is unable to change the tempo settings for some of the rhythmic sight-reading exercises I have built for my theory 2 class. They know how to do it, but when they change the BPM setting, the tempo for the exercises does not reflect the change. I was able to reproduce this problem myself - using the latest version of Earmaster 7 on a 2019 MacBook Pro running Catalina.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Liz

Hi Liz,
This can happen if the Tempo option was locked when you made the lesson in the workbook editor:

Thanks for the quick response Quentin. I have all exercise settings at "user may choose", so this is unfortunately not the problem. If you have other ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Re: Students unable to change tempo settings for sight-playing rhythm exercises
Ok, that's odd. Are they using the latest build of EarMaster (currently 7.2.49)? This number is shown at the top of the EarMaster window (or in the App's preferences, under "About EarMaster" on iOS).
If they are using 7.2.49 and are experiencing that problem, could you please send me the workbook that is causing the problem by email?

Well, since I was able to reproduce her problem, it is probably not the version number that she is using (my app is up to date). So I will send you the workbook in question.
Thanks,

Re: Students unable to change tempo settings for sight-playing rhythm exercises
Thanks for the file Liz. I had a look and it's definitely a bug. We're fixing it right away.
It happens with rhythmic sight-reading exercises based on scores from the score library (or imported by the user). It doesn't seem to happen with rhythms generated by the algorithms of EarMaster.

Until this issue is fixed, you can still change the tempo in the exercises. Just make sure it is done AFTER pressing "Record", i.e. while the metronome is counting. As long as you did not make your first clap, EarMaster will wait for you to begin your answer, so there is plenty of time to change the tempo.

This is very helpful information, and I have shared it with my students. Thank you!
