Trouble grabbing and inserting rests in rhythm dictation

I am having trouble inserting rests in the beginning of the first measure of rihythm dictation. The mouse cannot access rests to place at the start of a measure but in between notes I can use the rests.

I just tested it and it worked fine.
Are you activating the rests in the toolbar at the right?
If you are, what lesson are you at in rhythm dictation?

I am in the beginning lessons of rhythm dictation. I just went to ear master and found out that I need to install more ram.

Why should you install more RAM to use rests in EarMaster? Unless your computer is from the mid 90's, I don't think any recent computer should have any difficulty running EarMaster. It has been made to use as less resources as possible.
