Ambit on Melodic Dictation

Post by silas02 »

I'm no super ear, but whilst doing the melodic dication I notice that the max ambit is an octave, and when I have this setting up to that, most of the intervals in the questions are in the minor2-minor3 category with a sprinkling of 4ths and 5ths. I've tried creating a custom scale (to try to cheat the system) but you can't go over an octave with that either. Surely there's a way to open this up to give 6ths, 7ths 9ths 13ths as well???

Hi,

You must also use the "max interval" setting (maximum interval between two consecutive tones) if you want to have larger intervals.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I have it set at an octave, but my questions are 1) why only one octave? what about 9ths etc?
2) Even with max interval set at one octave in all the questions I've done, i'm getting a vast majority of 2nd/3rds, a spinkling of 4ths, 5ths and no 6ths, 7ths? (I've done quite a few questions)

I couldn't say unfortunately, I am not the developer, but I completely understand your point.
Please send a suggestion from inside EarMaster (under the HELP menu), or simply to our support address. We are currently developing EM6, so now is just the right time for the last feature requests. :-)
