interval singing ranges

Post by pburgmayer »

I would like to know if there is a way to specify the range of pitches for the interval singing exercise. If I am a baritone and the initial pitch is a top-space G in bass clef, I can't sing an octave above it. Anyway to lower the pitch of the starting notes?

Hello,
Yes, absolutely. In the exercise setup window, choose "Advanced" for "Key and Root Movement", and then click on "Edit...".

At the bottom of the next window, you will be able to specify the upper and lower limits of the questions.

On my version, Mac/latest version, when I hit edit I see a guitar fretboard where I can specify the range. However, it is NOT possible to set a range for example C3 to C4, the lowest I seem to be able to set is E3 to E4.

Why can't I just specify a range by TYPING C3 - C4 ?

This is very frustrating.

Hi,

The available range should go from F2 to E6.

Sorry, I had overseen that you were using the fretboard to specify the tone range, which is why it can't go very low. Before clicking on "Advanced" in the Exercise setup window, select the staff or the piano instead of the guitar, using the icons above the list of intervals. This will change the visual interface used to define the tone range.

Thanks,
I did that and now I can use the Keyboard. However it does not allow me to specify the range of the root to be for example from C3-C3, or C3-G3. Please advise how to specify to practice sightsinging just within ONE octave from C3-C4.

Have you tried to select the staff in the exercise setup instead of the keyboard and the fretboard? It should allow for an even wider range.
