I wanted to share something that has happened to me last time I used Earmaster:
I was just starting some exercise, and before the first question was asked I clicked on an answer. Just to see, you know... Well, immediately the screen went black. I restarted the computer, but I got the message "NTLDR missing", finally as it turned out ALL my hard drive was virtually deleted (as in: it was shown as blank). In fact, I had to use a data recovery software which managed to retrieve a lot of my files but without the file system information, e.g. I had loads and loads of FILE0000234.DOC and so on which I had and still have to sieve through gathering up what's left.
Now, I'm happy to give detailed information about my system to the support team to find the bug. After all, I really liked earmaster and I'll try it again. Don't get scared from this experience (although I can positively say it must have been Earmaster as no other program was running and I haven't had any problems for quite a while).
Ironically, it just happened seconds after I had finished my first entry in this forum stating things I'd like to see in future versions of Earmaster. Well, this neat problem I'd rather like to add to that list...
No offence taken, by the way (I got over it, eventually).
Kind regards,
Johannes Wilke.
NTLDR missing

"NTLDR missing" errors are usually related to Windows XP/2000/NT having problems with a FAT partition on a hard disk. I don't think this has anything to do with EarMaster. Have you tried googling the error message? There seem to be a lot websites describing the error.
I am amazed you can still be in a good mood after an experience like that :pirate:

PC crashed, hard drive wiped (it IS a good program, though)
You're right, there are loads of sits dealing with NTLDR errors. However, I didn't have anything conscously running (a few windows services as usual I suppose, but I cannot account for what they were doing at the time). The immediate outcome of my daring click in Earmaster was the blank screen which is why I think, these two events were connected. Then at the reboot the system was mixed up. Sure enough Earmaster wouldn't have done anything to the files itself, but I thought it crashing did catch my XP in an unfortunate moment, doing whatever but not finishing it because of the crash.
By the way, I've formated my hard drive now and use it again. I hope the thing - for whatever reason - won't happen again, although I've learnt my lesson and got myself second a hard drive, imaging software, the works...

Windows does a lot of things in the background, also while you work with programs on the computer. EarMaster does not access the disk when you press an answer button. Therefore it is not likely to have anything to do with EarMaster.
If this had been related to a bug in EarMaster I am sure other users had reported this problem before, but we have not received any reports about such a problem.

Well, the more I can recommend Earmaster, then. I am sorry if I should have caused any concerns whether it would be a good idea to install Earmaster. If you, Hans, would like to delete this thread I wouldn't mind at all; or maybe change the subject line so that it is clear that it didn't have anything to do with Earmaster...
