Mic doesn't work in Rhythm exercises but does in Sining WHY?

Post by HRSherman »

I just added a MXL mic to my PC. I'm running Windows XP pro. After using the mic testing wizard in Earmaster 5.0 with out any problems I am unable to choose the mic as my input device for rhythm exercises of any kind. The choice is grayed out in the menu. It is available and working when I try to use the interval singing exercise.

Why am I not able to use the mic to clap my answers for rhythm exercises?

HELP!!

Only the "Rhythm imitation" and "Rhythm reading" exercises allow input with the microphone. The "Rhythm dictation" and "Rhythm correction" do not allow input with the microphone.

If you have enabled the "Evaluate notelengths" in the "Exercise settings" menu, then the microphone will also be disabled. This is because the microphone can only pickup the attack (the beginning) of a note, but not the duration of the note.

Thanks Hans. That did the trick. I left the "Evaluate Note Lengths" On. I didn't think to turn it off after I got the mic and tried to use it.

Makes perfect sense ... Now.. :laugh3:

Thanks for the help. Wouldn't have found it with out you. ;-)
