Why are various tags on the toolbar not accessible eg answer input

If some of the items of the toolbar or other places in EarMaster are greyed-out, it means that that particular option can't be used with the current activity, the current exercise or the current combination of options.

For example, if one chord exercise is about identifying Major triads, Multiple-choice will not be available as it would only show one single button: Major.
