Downloaded Critical update
Today on opening Earmaster 6, I received a notice advising me to update to build 6.1 and I proceeded to do this and the new version was installed. At the end of the installation the dialogue box appeared telling me to activate the product. I did this and received the message that the number of activations had been exceeded. I only have two devices onto which the product is loaded as per the original purchase. When one usually updates software applications one doesn't usually have to re-activate the product. How do I recover from this situation.
Re: Downloaded Critical update
Further to my post on this topic, my system crashed and I had to re-boot. I started Earmaster 6.1 again and this time the message came up with Activate with my previous serial number, which I did and the application started normally. Perhaps the critical update notice should mention that a reboot is necessary after doing this installation and to accept one's previous serial number.
Re: Downloaded Critical update
Well further to my last message, the "plot" thickens. It seems that despite giving a message asking if one wants to use the Existing serial number, the application actually doesn't apply it. Instead it says that one is now on day 1 of the evaluation period. So there is definitely a serious bug with this application and updating one's purchased software. May I suggest that the update is done through the application and not as an external link. Right now the product is effectively useless to me and I can only use the portion attached to my Clavinova piano. This is not convenient as I travel with the laptop and the piano is not very mobile.
Re: Downloaded Critical update
Hello,
Updating the software doesn't require to re-activate the software for most users, but if changes have been made to your computer setup between your initial activation and the installation of the update, EarMaster might ask you to re-activate your license.
If the number of authorized activations has been exceeded, you can simply contact support@earmaster.com and include your serial number in your email so that our staff may help you out with that issue.
Best regards,
Quentin
