Does EarMaster guide me?

Post by seachord »

As a total piano newbie, I'm looking to use EarMaster to learn intervals and all the cool ear-training things so I can better play by ear.

Since I know nothing, does the EarMaster software start me where I need to start, as a beginner, and take me forward in the correct steps?

I ask, as I saw all the confuration combinations, but don't have a clue as to what to check or not. I'm guessing this is there for when one becomes advanced and does know how to make choices.

Hi,
That's what the progressive EarMaster tutors are for.
When starting the program, you simply choose the Standard tutor, which is a progressive syllabus starting at beginner level and ending up with some very difficult lessons, pick an exercise area and off you go. The tutor will guide you through the lessons and let you move on to more difficult lessons as soon as your results for the previous lessons are sufficiently good.

Customized exercises are for more advanced users who know what they would like to improve or who have specific needs.
