latency problem

Post by magickeys »

QWhen I try to match a rhythm by tapping the space bar, there is a major latency problem, which makes the software mark many errors (which are not valid). Please advise.

Hello,
Please read the FAQ (support menu) about delayed sounds on Windows systems or read my answer in this this thread: http://www.earmaster.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=1190

Quentin,

i am evaluating the software.

seems like there are TWO different latency problems mentioned so far in this thread.

1) there is difference between visual change on the screen and when a sound is heard. This problem is fixed by the tool built in the software that synchronizes sound out with video. (flashing box)

2) there is a time difference between when a keyboard key (or mouse key) is tapped and when the software recognizes that the key was tapped.

in theory it seems like the software should have separate latency adjustment for video/sound output, mouse latency, keyboard latency and sound detection (clap) latency.

in the windows 7 computers i tested, if you adjust latency by the method you suggest. It seems like ALL the keyboard taps are detected as late.

but, if i use a bigger number then seems needed in the test the detection doesn't seem off as much.

Hi,

both these issues should be solved by the latency compensation tool.

How high have you set the latency compensation at?

I have a brand new Win7 with i5 cpu and 4GB Ram, and my latency is set at 120ms
