How do I use my guitar to play the rhythm exercises?

Post by mopeli »

I have plugged my electric guitar in to my Mac laptop using the line in. I was trying to use it to do the rhythm exerceises. The software seems to recognize down strokes but does not 'recognize' upstroke which makes it pretty hard to learn rhythm on a guitar....

Any solutions?

Thanks!

I've just noticed that if you 'fret' chords, the system get s confused by upstrokes and doens't recognize them. Whilst if you just mute the strings with your fretting hand when strumming, it works much better....the system recognizes the upstrokes.

Hello,
You are absolutely right. You should mute the guitar's strings with your left hand when performing rhythms on your guitar, and try not to strum slowly. It's the safest way to use the rhythm exercises with a guitar. I do it myself and it works really well, even with 16th notes. :-)
