Transpose microphone tones when doing interval singing

Post by S_Wonder »

Hi, I have a problem when I try to do interval singing. Since I am a male, I am singing tones one octave lower than notated. So EarMaster always says my input is wrong, because it is in the wrong octave (even though the tone is right).

I tried to solve this with the "Microphone tuning wizard", tried to use the transpose microphone tones option, I entered -12 there, but it doesn't seem to make any difference? It also seems as if the "Microphone tuning wizard" loses the value (-12) I set it to; every time I start the wizard again, the -12 is gone and it says 0 again.

So how should one deal with the problem of singing in different octaves when exercising interval singing?

The easy way is to choose "Any Octave" in EXERCISE SETTINGS menu>ANSWER IDENTIFICATION.

That way, EarMaster will validate any answer given with the correct note, no matter what interval it is in.

Otherwise, there is a thread about the same problem that has just been open in the GENERAL forum, so I advise you to follow it. There should be more feedback about it in the start of August, when the developer is back from his vacation.
