Melodic Dictation

Post by silas02 »

I am particularly interested in improving my ear in the bass range. How do you get the questions under Melodic Dictation to be in this range only?

Hi,

In customized mode, under "Key and Root Movement" (Exercise setup window), choose "Advanced" and then click on "Edit...". In the lower part of the next window, you will be able to set the range for the root tone of the progression/scale.

Notice that you can use EarMaster with an on-screen bass interface and bass sounds. Go to the "Answer Input" menu, then "String Tuning", and select the bass tuning you would like to use. If none of the available tunings correspond to what you are used to, you can simply specify your own tuning unnder "Custom..."

Btw, if you use the bass as on-screen interface, the questions will only be played within a bass' pitch range. ;-)
