Customize for bass?

Post by ottotrontor »

I'm new to the program - and quite impressed so far. I'm a bass player, though, and I'm finding that the interval training exercises use the displayed fretboard in a very bass-unfriendly way. All the notes appear to be on the upper two strings, in the higher register.

Is there a way to customize the tutor to play more notes on the lower strings, lower register?

Ideally, if you select bass as the stringed instrument, the program should respond accordingly.

Any feedback/info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree that it would be better if EarMaster could automatically adjust the pitch of the questions to fit the instrument. Right now the pitch range is defined in each lesson and it is the same no matter what instrument you use. We have this improvement on the wish list for a future patch.

Until then you can use the customized exercise and set the pitch range as you want it - or if you have EarMaster School, you can simply change the pitch for each tutorlesson with the tutor editor.

Yeah this would be amazing. I'm a guitar playing going to BASS, I'm actually trying to find out with the F clef, but I'm doing OK.

I have the F clef selected to view the score, and the bass as the instruments for the input of notes, but I can hear only the piano sounds, would it be possible to listen them with "bass" sounds.

EarMaster now adjusts the pitch of the question if the screen-bass is chosen. This way it uses the full range of the bass. This improvement was included just 10 days ago.

Use the "Check for update" function in the EarMaster "Help" menu. Then you will see what has changed since the version you have installed. There you can also download and install the updates.
