Interval Singing

Post by jbutler »

How do I adjust the setting in "Interval Singing" activities so that the examples are singing ascending intervals above tonic, instead of singing intervals above a random scale degree?

The Interval Singing exercises make students sing an interval above another interval above the tonic. For example EarMaster will play the "Play Tonic of Key: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5" for the student to hear the key, then instead of asking the student to sing a Major 2nd above tonic it asks the student to sing a M2 above the 5th. In the screen shot I have attached you will see that EarMaster is asking the student to sing a Minor 3rd above 6. I want students to sing the interval above the tonic scale degree every time, not an interval above some other random scale degree.

Please advise on how to change the settings so EarMaster asks students to sing a scale degree above tonic for every question.

Hello,

When setting up the exercise, choose "Customized" for the Transposition option, then click on "Edit..." and select the tonic as the root tone. That way, EarMaster will always use the tonic as root tone.
