no sound after installing microphone

I used the microphone wizard to install a microphone, and it seemed to detect the microphone. However, now there is no sound coming through my headphones.

The microphone runs through a MobilePre USB preamp digital interface. The microphone is an AudioTechnica with phantom power from the Mobile unit.

Has anyone got the microphone input to work? So many programs fail at this aspect of the interface. Is Earmaster5 any different? What should I do.

Using microphone in EarMaster should not influence the MIDI sound at all. It is two different systems.
You should however verify that the mixer settings for your headphones are correct. Choose "Run..." from the Windows "Start" menu. Type "sndvol32" and press "Ok". This will open the Windows output mixer.
Make sure that MIDI/SW synth line is not muted and the volume is up.

However, I too was able to use the microphone wizard to set microphone levels (AND all of my Windows Volume control settings are UNmuted and set to maximum.), but the microphone setting (F12) is still grayed out in the pull down menu and does not read microphone input during dictations.

Please advise.

Turned OFF the EVALUATE NOTE LENGTH setting (under Exercise Settings, for those of you looking for it), and I'm now able to use the microphone.
