Motu 896 no midi?

Post by Jurgen »

Hi,

I recently set up my Motu 896 firewire audio interface, and it's working fine.

With Earmaster 5 however I cannot hear the questions or answers, I can hear the startup tune, and the right wrong sounds, but that's it.

In the device settings I have three MIDI devices listed:
Microsoft GS Wavetable-software
Microsoft MIDI-mapper
MPU-401
Non of those work....

Can someone help please.

Thanks.

Your Motu audio interface might not have a MIDI module. Almost all sound cards have a MIDI module, but some special audio productions cards does not have a MIDI module.

EarMaster uses wave audio for the intro sound and the sound effects, and MIDI sound for the questions and answers.

The Microsoft GS wavetable driver should also produce sound, but it might use another sound card to produce the sound. Maybe your computer has a built-in sound card, which you do not use? If you connect a speaker to that sound card, you should be able to use the Microsoft GS driver.
