Rhythm Reading: Lesson 25

Post by bm »

I find this lesson too hard because I don't seem to be able to press the CTRL button on my keyboard rapidly enough (my thoughts are definitely ahead of what I can do with the CTRL button!): is there anything else I can try to make the lesson more responsive without buying a electronic drum kit?

Rhythm reading Lesson 25

Post by Bojan »

Hi bm, my first advice to you would be to use mouse buttons instead of CTRL button, I find this to be slightly more precise on my computer. Also try experimenting with sound card delay (Tools/Prog setting/MIDI devices/Synch rhythms) or lower the tempo under 90 bmp. You may be able to avoid buying those drums :) What percentage do you get on question 25?

You could also use a microphone and tap the rhythm in front of it. It is much easier than the Ctrl button.

Thank you for your suggestions, Bojan and Quentin. I've passed with 80% using the mouse, and I might well plug in the microphone from time to time when I'm doing my rhythm training. Also, I didn't realise we can adjust the speed while doing the pre-set exercises.

I can't help wondering whether some of these later exercises are more valuable to drummers than to people working with songs, though!

Gratefully
