OSX: Midi In/Out Range check error on startup

Post by MFox »

I downloaded the demo and when I try to launch it, I'm getting two dialogs about problems with midi devices:

"Error listing MIDI-in devices"
"Range check error"

"Error listing MIDI-out devices"
"Range check error"

The application quits right after that.

My midi interface is an emagic unitor8, I have 3 of them stacked(it's possible to cascade them via link cables) which gives me one big interface in the audio-midi setup with 24 ports. I unstacked them for a test and when I have only one with 8 ports running, earmaster starts.

Hi,

I'm not why it wont accept your configuration when cascaded. The downloaded demo of EarMaster, is that for Windows or Mac OS X?

Thanks, I'll take a look at it. When we find a fix, it will not be available until next update. I hope your workaround works for you until then - I'll notify you through this thread when an update is available.

Thank you for your patience, and best regards,

Hi,

We took a closer look at the Unitor8, and if one Unitor8 has eight ports (devices), three Unitor8 will mean more than 24 items on EarMasters device list, but unfortunately EarMaster is only able to handle 20 items on the list.

There will be a fix on the next update to work around this issue.

Thanks, and best regards,
Normann
