tutor export & import problems

Post by Dan Keller »

Hi
I have a new (German language) EM 5 School version and want to send tutors to my students.
The students have the EM Pro Version. They should work on the lessons and send their results back to me.

I tried the following, but it doesn't work ;-(

(1) I wrote and saved my tutors (so I have .tut files)
(2) I do File > Export > Export Results and Lessons (I choose a student and mark only the tutor checkbox), and I get the file ExpUserData.zip
(3) On the students PC (Currently I use one of my own PCs to test this functionality before I give the tutors to my students), I save this zip file on the desktop.
(4) I do File > Import > Results and Homework. Then I drag the zip file into the Import window (it show then the path to the desktop-folder correctly). In the Import-window I see the remark "Enthält Benutzerdaten von: Dan Inspiron" i.e. there is user data available from user Dan Inspiron ). This seems to be correct.
(5) The Tutor Box is already checked and I choose "Import".
(6) I get the error message "Die Files befinden sich nicht in diesem Ordner" (like "The files are not in this folder")

What am I doing wrong?

Hello Dan,

To send a tutor to your students, you must choose "File>Export>Email tutor.
EarMaster will then autommatically create an e-mail with the tutor attached (xxxxxx.tut).

When the student receives the e-mail, he/she only has to double-click the tutor file and EarMaster will start with your tutor available in the training modes.

Thank you Quention!
I tried this out also. I saved the .tut file in a folder, and it works as you described.

BUT then when the STUDENT tries to EXPORT the RESULTS of the tutur (file > export > mail results and lessons...), to send them back to me, he gets the following error message:
"Kann folgenden Benutzer nicht speichern: DAN KELLER
Zugriff verweigert
C:\DOKUME~\DAN......\TEMP\exuser.em5"

[translated about: "Unable to save the following user...Access denied"]
BTW: DAN KELLER is my name as teacher.

EM creates one file (SOMTUT~2.HiS) in the same folder as the tutor is.
(The tutur's filename is "SOM Tutor IE 02.tut")

So it seems that EM has a problem to save the tutorfile...?!
What's to do now?

Hi again Dan,

It seems that it has something to do with limited user access rights on your computer. The temporary folder you are trying to save the files on isn't allowing you to write data. You should have writing permissions on the folder to save files on it.

If you experience difficulties and need more precise explanations, you are welcome to write to our support e-mail address.

Kind regards,
Quentin
