Basic level for beginner

Post by Serge88 »

This software look great but I want something at the basic level like note recognition. I'm only a beginner.

Here's what I do with my piano teacher:
She give me middle C and after that I have to name every note she play.

When I get better she will play two notes then a three notes chord.

She told me I should start with simple note recognition before moving to interval and chord identification.

Unfortunately Earmaster start at a higher level.

Hi,

What you are describing is the first lessons of the Melodic Dictation exercices in EarMaster. :-) So of course you can start by identifying single notes.

But if she gives you the middle C and ask you to find a tone she plays afterwards, you are using your ability to recognize intervals (the interval between C and the tone played).

Intervals are the very basic elements of music, and the interval comparison exercise starts at a very accessible level, as you only need to tell which interval is greater, which is much easier than guessing a note by ear in my opinion. :--D

In any case, good training! :-D

Yes you're right, identifying interval is easier. I will start with that.
