singing intervals

Post by jgodfrey »

I'm using the "singing intervals" exercise to learn to play intervals on my electric bass. I'm using a line-in instead of the microphone (although I used that, too, and it's about the same).

The problem is that EarMaster doesn't discern lower notes and I'm often getting the right interval, but EM doesn't hear it correctly. I've even tried playing on the higher part of the neck.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried to adjust harmonics in the microphone configuration wizard (in tools menu)?

Yes, I tried that, too. I also just downloaded the software update and it works 95% better. Thank you for your reply.

Ok it sounds good then.

I'm sometimes using the line-in input of an old vaio laptop to train with my guitar and it usually works fine.

But keep in mind that the impedence is not compatible and that the audio signal sent from your bass into your computer is not 100% "clean". For the best results, use a soundcard with a guitar/bass input.

Cheers
