customized chord progressions

Post by russear »

my greatest needs are for scale degree and chord identification. i know how to make a random test for scale degrees by making custom scales & playing one note at a time. but why is a similar option not there for chords? i want to select some chords (I, IV vi etc) an identify them by sticking with one key. the best that I could come up with is to set up custom chord progressions where the same chord is played twice (why is the 1 chord not an option?) etc

thanks!

Hi,
We are actually considering adding harmonic dictation to the exercise list in V.6, where the construction of the progressions wil be much more free than the cadences and fixed progressions of the Chord Progression exerise.

I think I misunderstood your post in my first answer. You were talking of identifying single chords by their root tone, right?

Hello.
How can I write customized chord progressions on the staff so I can create my own base line and use inversions?
Thanks

Hi Dallas,
In the welcome screen, choose Customized Mode and Chord Progressions, click Begin.
In the Exercise Set up window, you will find a list of the included chord progressions. If you scroll down, you will see empty entries with the label "User-defined" on it. Double-click one of them to create your own chord progression (up to 8 chords). The option for whether or not to include inversions are located on the right panel.
