Microphone Tuning Wizard doesn't recognize microphone

Post by kagema »

Hello,
I want to start with ‘Interval singing’, but when I run the Microphone Tuning Wizard, in step 2 the peak meter doesn’t move if I clap my hands or make other sounds, even though the microphone is working while Ear Master is on. I’ve selected the microphone for input and the volume in the Volume Mixer is at peak level. I can’t make the Microphone Tuning Wizard peak meter move no matter what I try. I also read the forum questions on Microphones. I have a Røde microphone, connected to an M-Audio Fast Track Pro Audio/MIDI Interface with Preamps, and Windows Vista. I hope you can help me. Thanks,

Hello,

Is your M-Audio soundcard selected as default audio recording device in Windows?

Is the microphone input working in other applications?

Does your Røde microphone require phantom power? If it does, make sure it is switched on on your soundcard.

Hello,
1. On the page Sound – Recording, Line 1/2 Fast Track Pro is selected as ‘Standard device’,
2. The microphone input works well in Cubase Studio 5,
3. Phantom power is switched on on the M-Audio Fast Track Pro,
but the microphone still doesn’t work in Ear Master Pro.

I have an M-Audio 1820 which does not respond to the microphone wizard. It is the default sound card. I can use it on other apps Sonar X1 for instance.

I'll be looking into this and come back to you asap.
What about MIDI playback, is it working as it should? (tones played during questions or while clicking the staff/piano/guitar)

When you go to CONTROL PANEL>SOUND>RECORDING in Windows, make sure that the volume meter of the selected hardware (your soundcard) is moving when you are making sound in front of your microphone.

Thanks. That pointed the way. I'm getting input now and I just need to tweak things.
