Changing User
I can enter a new student in User Maintenance but cannot find anywhere how to change the user so the results (statistics) show up for that particular newly added student. The results for all students keep showing up under the name of the first student I entered.
Under "User Overview", the results of all your students are displayed. On the contrary, in "Statistics" you should be able to see results for individual students (select student entries at the top right of the window). Is the problem you describe happening in User overview or in Statistics?

Yes, I understand the drop down menu at the top of the statistics. Let me back up here and ask my "change user" question more clearly. I'm unable to see any other students results except for the first student I entered. This led me to read your instructions carefully on how to switch students so that the results/statistics will record each students answers under their own name. There isn't any where in your instructions that tells me how to switch to another student before they start a lesson so that it records those statistics for that student, in other words, if "Joe" is finished with a lesson and "Mary" wants to start her lesson, what do I need to do so that the program is recording those results for "Mary" instead of "Joe". Let's make sure I'm doing this correctly before we talk about seeing the results after the lesson.
I see, sorry I didn't quite understand the issue before.
It seems that all your students are actually working under the same user account in EarMaster.
To switch users in EM, there are two approaches:
1) The default method: EarMaster uses the accounts on the computer or the network to switch users.
F. ex.: If John has a user account in Windows or OSX and he logs into the computer with his user account before using EarMaster, all his results will be saved under that account.
If you choose to create students in EarMaster beforehand, you then need to use their Windows/OSX user name. That way every time they log into the computer, their account will be called in EarMaster. If their EarMaster account doesn't exist yet, it will be created automatically the first time they start the program while being logged in Windows/OSX with their user account.
2) Use an EarMaster-specific login interface.
Under TOOLS>ADMINISTRATION>OPTIONS, you can unselect the default login method (the method described above), and ask EarMaster to use its own login interface. Switching users in Windows/OSX is then not necessary. Each user will have a user name and password in EarMaster, and new students are created automatically if their profile does not exist in the program yet.
