Problems with Earmaster and Mac

I've just installed the earmaster on my mac, and just after i've change de language to portuguese, everytime i open the program it shuts down unexpectedly!
What do i do???

Hi,
There seems to be a crash happening in some situations. An update will be released shortly, I'll keep you posted.

I´m using EM 5 in german language on a MacBook Pro for one year and everytime i search for an update it says that there is no update available. For the last few days it shuts down unexpectedly always during the rhythmdictation exercises and sometimes during all others. Most of the time if I klick the button to check my answer.
I rebooted my Mac and all that, but nothing happens.
You wrote here that there is an update but why I can not find any?

Hello,
Please try to run the installer of the trial version available from www.earmaster.com/download/ . If there is a newer version/update, running the installation with the newest build will 'force' the program to get updated. All your settings, license registration, etc. will remain intact after updating the program.

Hey,

I downloaded the latest trail version and ran the installation five days ago as you said. At first all problems seemed to be solved. But today the whole story started again. I have to practice for my entrance examination on 20th of June. It´s really annoying to start the program after every second question.
The main problem is in custom mode in the rhythm- dictation tutorial.
All other tutorials shut down unexpected from time to time till now. It´s not good but it´s bearable.
I hope you understand what I´m writing. My english is not the best. Sorry for this.
Please try to fix these Bugs. Or will the new version EM6 come soon?

What settings are you choosing for the rhythm dictation exercise (how many bars, tempo, time signatures, etc.)?

I choose not always the same I think. But most of the time the following:
1 Bar (3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/8 ) with breaks and slurs.
1/2, 1/4, 1/8 notes
1/2, 1/4 dotted notes
1/4, 1/8 triplet
80 bpm

Maybe important, too:
I write down the rhythms on a sheet. So in EM I always get 0% right.
I do this, because it takes to much time for me to type it into the Mac and also I have to practice it this way for my entrance exams.
In the meantime I tried to do the standard tutorial. But the same Problem is there.

Ok, i´m getting more and more angry. You wrote "asap" nearly a month ago. What are your results?
Every other software on my computer is running without any problems. But the most important one (it´s EM -if you believe it or not) is crashing much to often.
Am I the only one with this problem? What can I do? I need your help.
I´ve got no money to by all the books, to pay a teacher i would need without EM.

Hi Mika,
Sorry for that. The reason why I haven't gotten back to you yet is that I couldn't get the program to crash consistently with the settings you described.

Some simple things you may try that might help:

* If you haven't done so in a long time, reboot your Mac
* Try not to run other Audio/MIDI applications at the same time, just in case
* Try to run EarMaster in Maximized mode (filling the whole screen) or at least filling most of your Mac's screen

a little update:
I´m in Maximized mode now and the 5/4 bar setting is not enabled.
Since then there are no problems.
It´s ok for me. I´ll practice the 5/4 Bars separate.

Hi Mika,

It really sounds strange that the problem is only happening with 5/4. Just to be sure, are you perhaps running EarMaster from the .dmg file (i.e. the file you downloaded from the EarMaster website, showing a hard disk icon)? A lot of users actually do that when they are not used to Mac, and that would cause the program to perform poorly.
