2 seconds delay after example is played??

Post by KostaC »

I practice chord progressions on a 250 tempo and if i want to hear the example again i have to wait 2 seconds for the "begin" button to release. If i count all that seconds on each example that i have to wait i'm wasting too much time for nothing. This was not the case in EM5, please fix it.

I assume you mean the "Play Question" button in Chord Progressions.
I have tested the "Play Question" buttons of both EarMaster 5 and 6.
There is a small difference between the down times of this button, but not much.

After the last chord has played it takes less than a second for the button to become active again.

If you have other results, or you refer to something else you are welcome to email us a video in which you show your situation.

Yes, i mean the "play question" button.

I have tested the other activities and it turned out that this delay is big only in the chord progressions section and only when melodic examples are played. The delay is almost 2 seconds. Try it with 250 tempo you'll see the difference.

I have tested Chord progressions on 250 bpm with ascending and harmonic chords:
The "Play Question" button remained down for less than a second after the last note finished playing.

I think it is best if you send us a video where you demonstrate the problem.

I already sent you video months ago, from kostacoklev@gmail.com.

In general i don't like the delay in EM6, i can't play the examples fluently because of that.

On the 15th of december we have received a video from you about the lag of the "Play Question" button in Melodic Dictation on 40 BPM.

This was due to to the difference in the default length of the played notes.
We have chosen this to be a bit longer in EM6, which gives a bit more lag on very low speeds, though on fast speeds there is no noticable lag.

We have made an issue for the low speed case and plan on solving it when we have the time for it.

I am not aware of a video from you for Chord Progressions at 250bpm.
It would help a lot if you would send a video that illustrates your point, because we cannot reproduce it here.

In general, if more people think that the "Play Question" button lags on fast speeds in EarMaster, we like to hear about it.

I don't know about other people, but that delay really bothers me at 40 bpm as well as at 250 bpm, on any exercise.

I am sending a new video now at 250 bpm at support@earmaster.com

May i ask a simple question: why you've chosen that?

This note duration has been a balancing act:
To get the sound right at both very fast and slow speeds is not easy. The focus has been to get a good performance on average speeds, since those are used the most.
