My son uses EarMaster to practice his violin. His teacher told us to tune the violin to 442Hz. The electronic tuner that we have defaults to 440, so we change it to 442 for tuning.
Now I wonder, how is EarMaster "tuned"? To 440, or 442, or something else? Is this adjustable?

Re: Tuning
Hi there
EarMaster is set to 440Hz as a default. Right now it is now possible to change it to 442, which of course would be optimal, if it was possible. We have tried to find a solution that would support both, but we haven't found an effective way yet.
Hopefully we will be able to find a solution for this.

Re: Tuning
I have a related question:
Is it possible to adjust the pitch tolerance? Currently EarMaster is too tolerant for our needs. It shows green notes even when my son plays them way too sharp or way too flat. Most of the time EarMaster shows 100% even when my son plays his pitches terribly.
We would appreciate adjustable tuning and pitch tolerance very much... EarMaster adds some diversity and interest to my son's practice - like a computer game during violin practice. Unfortunately this "game" lacks challenge, because it shows 100% almost always.

Re: Tuning
Hi,
Before, EarMaster would only tolerate pitches within a 1/4 tone, but if I remember well, it was increased to just below a semitone at some point for several reasons.
The ideal solution would be to have 3 evaluation settings like with the rhythmic activities: kind, normal and strict. I will mention that to our dev team right away.

Re: Tuning
Thanks for considering tolerance adjustment settings.
I also use songs2see for my son's practice - it has a tolerance adjustment slider in "cents" from 10 to 100 in increments of 5 cents. I've attached screenshots. I would prefer such slider to 3 settings that you suggest. In any case, tolerance adjustment capability is essential. The ideal solution would be to have 3 evaluation settings like with the rhythmic activities: kind, normal and strict.

Tolerance
Could you possibly consider adding a tolerance setting in the near future? I'm currently using Songs2See with my son, to help him perfect his violin pitches, but I'd love to use EarMasrter again. I've started this thread about tuning to different frequencies, but in fact this is not very critical. Tolerance adjustment is much more important to me to the point that it's a deal breaker.
Re: Tuning
Hi,
thank you for your feedback.
We will add that on the list of future requests that our developers implement along the way.
