Interval Comparison question..

Post by jrockfever »

I am on lesson 23 of interval comparision and I happened to notice that the Minor third is farther apart than a major third. I'm thinking how would this be right its showing for the minor third f# to d# and for the major third f# to D how could the major third be a step lower than the minor third? Or is this just an error in the program?

Hi,
The two intervals you are giving as an example don't have the same root tone. The m3rd has D# as root tone and the M3 has D. The minor interval here (D#>F#) is one semitone smaller than the other (D>F#), just as it should be ;-)
