Exercise Setup grey (not available) on Mac menu

Exercise Setup grey (not available) on Mac menu
The 'Exercise Setup' menu item is grey on the Mac menu option. Is there a way around this? I'm using EarMaster5 Essential 5.0 on a MacBook Pro.
"Exercise Setup" displays the same window as when you choose "Customized training mode" instead of standard/jazz tutor mode from the starting screen.
As soon as you are inside the exercise, the menu item will be made available so that you can call the setup window without having to return to the starting screen. Notice that one of the icon of the toolbar also gives you direct access to the Exercise Setup.
