No Driver in List

Post by rph108 »

Hi,

I have a Windows 7 with an Intel(R) Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio. When I enter EarMaster Pro, no driver shows up in the list. How can I fix this?

Thanks

Hi,
Could you try to open a MIDI file (a file with .mid as file extension) in Windows Media Player?

If there is sound, then the default MIDI synth of Windows is there on your computer. But if no sound is played, that part of Windows is missing on your system. You would then need to re-obtain the default GM or GS synthesizer of Windows.

Thank you for your quick response. When I attempted to open a midi file on realplayer I received a response that said "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device." I'm assuming this means that it is missing from my computer.

Would reinstalling directx be a good way to re-obtain the default synthesizer?

I read a previous post that I missed the first time and downloaded loopbe1 and synthfont. Now I have the option of using loopbe1 and microsoft midi mapper for an midi in and out. The problem now is that there is still no sound when using either of these. Any suggestions on what to do next?

Thanks,
Ryan

I reinstalled a Korg midi player and for some reason this caused the microsoft gs wavetable synth to come back. So problem solved. Thanks again for your help.

Great!

With LoopBe1, you need to select it as MIDI Out device in EarMaster, and as MIDI In device in SynthFont. Remember also to load a soundfont in Synthfont, there are billions of them on the web.

LoopeBe1 is a virtual MIDI cable to have one application play back the MIDI sounds of another application.

Check out the FAQ on the EarMaster wesite (Support menu) for more details on the procedure. :-) .
