Melody Imitation
Hi, I am using version 6.0.2 on Mac, Mountain lion. I am trying to use the Melody Imitation activity. I cannot seem to sing the melody at the right time to get the answer right. When should i start singing? I really wish I could get it work. I need a lot of practice and it would be great to practice using the program. :music:

Re: Melody Imitation
Hi,
Version 6.1 has been released and includes a lot of improvements and bug fixes. To download it, go to the HELP menu and choose "Check for updates".
For melody imitation, as soon as the grey instruction bar displays "Sing the melody when you are ready", the program is ready to evaluate your answer. The only requirement is to start on the accentuated beat of the metronome (the first tick of the bar, which is played at a higher pitch than the others)..
It is possible that the mic input's sensitivity is set too high and that your mic is picking up background noise. If it does, EarMaster will start evaluate your answer even though you haven't sung anything. To make sure this doesn't happen, there are 2 things you can do:
1) Lower the sensitivity in the Microphone Calibration Tool (TOOLS menu)
2) Use headphones (highly recommended), otherwise the mic might pick up the ticks of the metronome played though your speakers, and that would result in wrong evaluations of your answers.
