Melodic dictation acting up after update

Hi guys

I am experiencing some weird behavior in EM6 after installing the latest update (on my Mavericks MacBook Pro, if that helps anyone): In the past I could sing or simply "touch" a note or almost sing strings of notes consecutively, at something a speed of close to one note/second, and EarMaster would notate them with about 80-95% accuracy, depending on my singing and level of effort.

However, after the update I have to hold on to every note for several full seconds. It seems as if EarMaster wants me to intonate very forcefully and for a long time (between 2-3, sometimes 4 whole seconds) before it registers the note. I've tried changing the various audio and microphone settings, lowering the "audio insert after"-dial from 1.600 ms to 600 ms. Yet, EarMaster still doesn't seem to want to "hold on" to the note like it used to do, making it very cumbersome to do the exercises.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Are you using the built-in mic of your MacBook?

Yes, I am using the built in mic on my mac. I have no issues recording my voice (using FaceTime) or similar apps. The recordings it captures are crystal clear, exactly like they've always been.

I even went made use of the microphone calibration tool in EM6, and everything was fine.

I should note that it appears to be more of an error within the particular exercise than EM's capability to record my voice and find the pitch: when singing a note, EM immediately finds/writes the note for me to see on the screen the millisecond I sing it. The problems is that I have to hold the note, aka keep singing it, for about 2-4 seconds before EM inserts it permanently into the stave.

I see. What specific excercise is this in? have you tried if it works in some of the other excercises? I just tried to test this to recreate the issue. But it works fine here (in melodic imitation). Not sure which excercise you are using?
