MIDI Remote Control fails

Post by hugochak »

Hello, I've just upgraded my EarMaster Pro 4 to 5. After configuration in Program Settings, I still cannot use my KORG MIDI keyboard C1, D1, E1, F1... to replace F5, F6, F7, F8... of my computer keyboard. I've chosen KORG MIDI PC Interface as the driver for 'MIDI In' setup; while I've chosen MIDI Mapper (linked to my PC sound card MIDI Synthesizer driver) in 'MIDI out' setup.

Take Exercise - Interval Comparison as an example, there is no response in my PC when I press KORG MIDI keyboard. The 'MIDI in' option in both Answers Input and toolbar at screen bottom are dimmed. However, in Exercise - Melody Dictation, the 'MIDI In' option in both Answers Input and toolbar at screen bottom are enabled so that I can check it and thus my PC responds and sounds what I press in KORG MIDI keyboard.

What happens to the MIDI remote control? I used it smoothly in old EarMaster versions. Much appreciated for your advice. Thanks! :-(

The MIDI in button is only grayed in the exercises where MIDI in is not possible: Interval comparison, Rhythm correction and Rhythm dictation. The remote control still works even when the MIDI in button is grayed.

Did you activate the "MIDI remote control" option in the "Tools" menu?

When you have activated it, there should be a green activity light next to the "MIDI in" button at the toolbar. Does it flash when you press a key on the keyboard?
If yes, then you simply need to find the right tones. They are configured in the EarMaster program settings.

If you still cannot make it work, then please write an email directly to support (find the email here).
