Tacky Advertisment On Home Page

Post by trystanjode »

When I open EarMaster 7 the homepage shows an advertisement for a Christmas special offer from the company.
I do not like this.
Everywhere we are bombarded with advertisements, which are loud, disruptive, gaudy, a nuisance at best and an ubiquitous curse of consumerism at worse.
So, I do not expect or want to see more distractions when I focus my mind into an elevated state to refine the subtleties of precise musical listening.
EarMaster should present a clean and functional interface that is conducive to its purpose. It is a paid product, not some sort of cheap promotion.
Therefore it should not look like one.

If EarMaster wants to advertise its offers then they should do so on their website, or perhaps via promotional emails to their customers which of course should have the option to unsubscribe from further such communications.

Please can EarMaster present itself with the class it merits.

Hi and happy new year :)

We use that notification feature to display seasonal offers to free users, as well as relevant and useful information to both paying and free users. The Christmas offer was exceptionally also displayed to paying users, as we deemed it reasonable to suggest to EarMaster users that they can consider buying EarMaster to a relative or friend as a Christmas present at a discounted price. This is not something that we do very often at all, and it is not uncommon. But we do take note of your feedback and will think about how this can be better managed, for example with an option to hide those notifications forever.
